I will go to the hospital for my surgery. Sometimes I might need to go to a surgery center.
I may need to stop eating or drinking for a little while before surgery.
When I arrive, I will check in at the front desk.
The nurse will then bring me back to a quiet room.
The nurse will leave the room. I will change into a gown or pajamas.
The nurse will check my temperature, blood pressure, and ask me a few questions.
I will wait in the room until it’s time for my surgery.
The doctor who gives me medicine to sleep will come to talk to me. Sometimes this doctor is called an Anesthesiologist.
When it’s time, I will go to the surgery room.
I will get sleepy from medicine through a mask or a small straw in my vein. The straw is called an IV.
When the surgery is done, I will wake up in the recovery room.
After I feel better from the medicine, I can go home to rest!
