The Saegertown Area Library is hosting a community conversation to learn how to be support its autistic community by becoming more accessible. The library is a recent recipient of the American Library Association (ALA)’s Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small & Rural Communities Grant, and the community conversation is meant as an opportunity to gather input from the local disabled community on how they can increase the accessibility of the library and its services.
This community conversation is open to all including parents, advocates, and caregivers, but the library is hoping to receive and prioritize input directly from the disabled community members, including those with mental, intellectual, and physical disabilities.
If unable to participate in the conversation, the library will be sharing out further opportunities for comment in the weeks following the conversation both online and in person at the library.
