This interactive online session introduces journey mapping as a practical strategy for supporting transition planning. Families will explore how UDL principles can help identify strengths, anticipate barriers, and develop personalized pathways toward post-secondary education, employment, and independent living goals.

Dr. Sam Johnston is the Chief Postsecondary and Workforce Development Officer at CAST, where she leads initiatives focused on increasing access to education, training, and high-quality career pathways for historically underserved populations. Her work centers on translating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) research into practical applications that improve educational, workforce, and community systems. Dr. Johnston has led numerous federally funded research and development projects, including National Science Foundation initiatives focused on STEM education, workforce development, and community-based learning. She is a nationally recognized expert in UDL, design-based research, and inclusive systems change.
This training is funded through the Pathways to Partnership (P2P) Grant, a Disability Innovation Fund grant awarded to the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. To participate, a completed OVR-244 Pre-Employment Transition Services (PRE-ETS) Request Form must be submitted.
