What I Learned At 27

Posted on

Welcome back to my blog! My birthday is on September 30th, and I will be turning 28 years old, so for this month’s blog, I wanted to talk about what I achieved and what I learned at 27.

Something I accomplished at 27 is finally moving on my own independently. This is something that I am very proud of and that I worked really hard for. However, that happened after the end of a relationship where I was living with my partner at the time. Something I learned with that is that relationships are hard. In the beginning, the relationship started out great but then the relationship took a turn, and I realized that I wasn’t happy anymore. I had to learn that no matter how hard I tried to fix things in my relationship, I had to come to terms with that I wasn’t myself anymore and it was very hard to admit that.

Another thing I learned is to slow down and not rush into things. I tend to get very excited when a positive opportunity presents itself that I just want to rush into it. For example, when looking for a place of my own, I rushed into a new apartment that it turns out wasn’t the greatest apartment. I had to eventually find a new place. I now live in a much better place but if I would’ve just taken my time to begin with, I would’ve had a better apartment from the beginning.

Another thing I learned is to stop pushing people away. Sometimes I feel like I’m too much of a burden to others and that I don’t want to bother them, so I tend to push them away and stop talking to them. However, I have been trying to fix that bad habit and reach out to friends and family more often, especially because it helps when I’m feeling lonely and I would have someone to talk to.

I’m not perfect and I’m still learning but I continue to try and learn from my mistakes. I’m very excited to see what 28 has in store for me and I can’t wait to share all those experiences on the blog. As always, I hope you enjoyed this blog and I’ll see you in the next one!

Within the past few years, she’s had to rebuild her entire life from scratch and navigate everything very differently. Teresa is eager for this new chapter in her life and wants to inspire others with autism to never give up, despite whatever obstacles life may throw their way.
