Memories

My mom, sister, and I went to see the new Lilo & Stitch (live action) movie on Memorial Day and we had such a great time. A few days before that, we watched the original Lilo and Stitch and had a really good laugh. Lots of old childhood memories came back to me about watching Disney cartoons with my family, eating takeout together, having snacks and so on. Sure, we do movie and takeout nights together now and then but watching Lilo & Stitch made me feel like a little girl again. I was just laughing, hanging out with my family, and not having to worry about checkbooks, bills, and other adult stuff (when I was a little kid, I thought being an adult was fun…BOY was I wrong).
If you haven’t seen the movie, Lilo & Stitch is about two sisters working together to stay together. Lilo is misunderstood as a kid and struggles to make friends – she’s lonely, so they adopt a dog….Lilo names him Stitch. (Unbeknown to them, the ‘dog’ was actually an alien with two other aliens chasing him). Stitch was made to destroy things but the more he hangs with Lilo the more he realizes that family is what matters most and that nobody gets left behind or forgotten. In the end after a lot of twists and turns, they all stay together as a loving little family.
When you’re having a crappy day and want to relax, this is my suggestion: watch a Disney movie, or any movie you loved as a child. Let your imagination go back to how you felt as a kid, when you didn’t have to worry so much about things.
And just for the record, if I ever get a chance to adopt a mutated alien like Stitch, I’d take it!
That’s all I’ve got for now, until next time 🙂
