Teresa is in her early 20s and looking forward to blogging about her journey with newly diagnosed autism. Within the past few years, she’s had to rebuild her entire life from scratch and navigate everything very differently. She recently had the opportunity to job shadow at different locations and has been inspired to attend college and one day work with children. Teresa is eager for this new chapter in her life and wants to inspire others with autism to never give up, despite whatever obstacles life may throw their way.

Welcome back! With Halloween right around the corner, I thought I would dedicate this blog to my favorite time of year.
I want to start off with the history of Halloween. Halloween originally started with the Celtic festival, Samhain, which was a Pagan religious celebration marking the end of summer and the beginning of the new year. At this festival, the Celts wore costumes, darkened their faces with ash, and lit bonfires to ward off evil spirits. Sometime later in the 8th century, the Catholic Church changed November 1st, which was the original date of Samhain, into a religious holiday called All Saint’s Day and November 2nd became All Souls Day, a day to remember the souls of the dead.
Eventually All Saint’s Day was renamed to All Hallows’ Day, which became All Hallows’ Eve and then All Hallows’ Eve became Halloween. From there, the history of Halloween led us to what we know today.
Ever since I was little, I have been obsessed with Halloween. When I was younger, I loved to dress up and pick out my costume for whatever I wanted to be that year but now that I’m older, I have new traditions. Nowadays, I enjoy watching horror movies and watching conspiracy theories and true crime videos. But no matter how old I get; I still get excited when Halloween rolls around.
In closing, I hope everyone has a happy Halloween and I will see you in the next blog!
