Teresa is in her early 20s and looking forward to blogging about her journey with newly diagnosed autism. Within the past few years, she’s had to rebuild her entire life from scratch and navigate everything very differently. She recently had the opportunity to job shadow at different locations and has been inspired to attend college and one day work with children. Teresa is eager for this new chapter in her life and wants to inspire others with autism to never give up, despite whatever obstacles life may throw their way.

Welcome back to my blog! Today I have some exciting news! Recently, I got a new job! To tell you a little bit about what I do for work, I work for a company in my hometown that hires individuals with barriers to employment.
Basically, what I do is production work. We work with those coffee kcups and we fill it with whatever type of coffee we’re working with that day, then we weigh it. It has to weigh about 11 grams, and the final part is putting them in a machine and placing foil lids on top, then the lids are sealed. Sometimes some extra coffee grounds get on to the kcups so we have to do what’s called quality control and wipe off any extra coffee grounds on the kcups before they can be sold. We also work with tea, but that is a bit newer.
With this job, I will be taught job skills and have job training. Eventually, the goal is to help find another job for me after I complete the job training program with my current job.
I’m excited to see what I can learn from this job, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future! With that being said, I hope you enjoyed this blog and as always, I’ll see you in the next one!
