Teresa is in her early 20s and looking forward to blogging about her journey with newly diagnosed autism. Within the past few years, she’s had to rebuild her entire life from scratch and navigate everything very differently. She recently had the opportunity to job shadow at different locations and has been inspired to attend college and one day work with children. Teresa is eager for this new chapter in her life and wants to inspire others with autism to never give up, despite whatever obstacles life may throw their way.

Thanksgiving is the time of year to reflect on the past year, appreciate the present, and express gratitude. To commemorate that, here are some of the things I am grateful for:
While this year has been challenging, I’m grateful for the people who have been there to help me through it. I’m very fortunate to have such a great support system who will be there for me whenever I need them.
I’ve also made a lot of progress from the beginning of the year to now. While there’s still some things I need to work on, I’m proud of the progress I have made.
Additionally, I’ve been working really hard on my independence so that I can live on my own someday. I’ve learned a lot of life skills and I’m continuing to learn even more. I’m grateful that I finally get the chance to live independently, which is something I’ve been wanting for a long time.
In closing, whatever your traditions are and whatever you celebrate, I hope that you have a happy and safe holiday. As always, I’ll see you in the next blog!
