How to Vote

See If You Can Vote

To vote in Pennsylvania, you must:

• Be 18 or older on Election Day.
• Be a U.S. citizen for at least 30 days before the election.
• Live in Pennsylvania and in your voting district for at least 30 days before the election.

Sign Up To Vote

Signing up to vote is called registering. Register at least 15 days before the election. Register online at vote.pa.gov/register, by mail, or at your county election office.

Learn About the Candidates

Candidates are the people who want to be elected. Look them up online and in the news. You can email them to ask what they think about issues you care about. Use sources you can trust. Read more than one article. Check where the facts come from. Think about who wrote it.

Vote!

• In person: Go to your polling place on Election Day. Polls are open 7 AM to 8 PM. First time at this polling place? Bring ID.
  • Find your polling place at vote.pa.gov/polls.
• By mail: Request a mail ballot at least two weeks before the election. Your ballot must arrive by 8 PM on Election Day. https://www.pa.gov/agencies/vote/voter-support/mail-in-and-absentee-ballot.
