Be Safe: What is Sexual Abuse (Children) Social Story

Overview

This resource, part of the Be Safe resource collection, is a social story for children to help explain what sexual abuse means.

A boy and a girl in bathing suits with arrows pointing to the vagina, breasts, buttocks (behind), and penis.

My private parts are the parts of my body that get covered by a bathing suit.

An older man asks a young girl,

Sexual abuse is when someone wants to look at my private parts.

A man with his pants down calls to a young girl,

Sexual abuse is when someone wants me to look at their private parts.

A young boy is in the shower, and older man is taking his picture. The boy yells,

Sexual abuse is when someone wants to take pictures or videos of me without my clothes on.

An older man tells a young boy,

Sexual abuse is when someone wants to touch or kiss me on my private parts.

An older man with his pants down tells a boy,

Sexual abuse is when someone wants me to touch or kiss them on their private parts.
