Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health and Safety Guide
ASERT has compiled resources for those with autism and those who care for people with autism relating to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
The plan is to read more science fiction and fantasy books by black and indigenous authors (BIPOC), who are often underrepresented by industry forces. If you’re not interested, go join some other book club. If you are interested, invite your SF&F loving friends! Anyone’s allowed, as long as they love SF&F.
Each month, they’ll read one of the books listed below, then get together on the third Friday of the month to discuss it for about an hour and a half.
They’ll get together online via Google Meet to chat about the book. You’ll need to use a Gmail account to get into Google Meet. Log into EventBrite, and then it’ll give you a button to show the Google Meet link. The link may change each month.
If we start getting an attendance of more than ten, they may split off into smaller groups.
Bring at least one question to ask others to spark a conversation.
Here’s what’s coming up next.
If you’re just now joining us, feel free to go back and read some of the ones we already read (further below) to give you more context to our conversations.
Sistah Scifi is a fantastic online bookstore that carries books we read as part of this book club! They also have really cool merch, comics, and more. Check it out at sistahscifi.com
Support black and indigenous authors by buying their books and sharing their work! The books we’ve already read make for a great reading list:
