Safety Strategies for Family Holidays

A discussion on finding, setting, and enforcing healthy boundaries with family and other loved ones, especially during holidays.

About this event

This workshop is intended for people of all ages who find it challenging to navigate unhealthy, uncomfortable, or stressful family situations, especially during the added pressure of large holidays.

These stresses might be caused by a history of unhealthy or abusive behavior or a family who isn’t accepting of a personal identity, but this workshop welcomes anyone who struggles with family-related stress for any reason!

We’ll be discussing:

  • The “relationship spectrum”: understanding healthy, unhealthy, and abusive dynamics
  • Personal boundaries – what that means and how to figure out where your own are
  • Strategies for communicating and protecting personal boundaries
  • Alternatives to conventional family models for finding support and community

The goal is to provide folks with practical information that they can adapt to their own situation so that their personal well-being is better protected.
