Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health and Safety Guide
ASERT has compiled resources for those with autism and those who care for people with autism relating to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh’s December 11th performance of The Promise of Light will be customized for those with autism spectrum disorders or who have disabilities that create sensory sensitivities. The concert length will be 60 minutes without an intermission, and the focus will be on creating a welcoming environment that includes a relaxing of traditional “concert rules” leaving patrons free to get up, make noise (talk, clap, sing!), move around, and leave/return to the concert space as desired. The use of iPads and other electronics will be allowed along with sensory fidget toys and other items that will be available for use during the performance. Quiet spaces will be available should patrons need a break.
Tickets for this performance are free.
