McClure Bean & Soup Festival

Started by a group of Civil War veterans to honor veterans of all wars and now in its 130th year, the McClure Bean and Soup Festival has turned into a fun and inspirational event for all who attend. The bean soup-making itself is a sight to behold – eight men each stirring two 35-gallon, soup-filled kettles over a battery of wood-fired furnaces in shifts lasting two hours and twenty minutes! Along with the wonderful soup, there are amusement rides, concessions, displays, contests, entertainment, a parade, Fair Queen and court, and a Civil War re-enactment.
