PEAL Center: Help With Difficult Conversations

Hosted by the PEAL Center

Young people with disabilities need and want to learn about relationships and sexuality, which is important for healthy development and well-being.

In Honest Conversations, parents and caregivers will:

  • Examine barriers to talking about sexuality
  • Gain knowledge about sexuality, sexual abuse, and developmental disabilities
  • Acquire and practice skills in communicating with your child with a disability about sexuality
  • Review topics offered in the Positive Relationships for Young People with Disabilities Series; this series is for young people aged 14-26 years and learn how to register your young person

And then in Positive Relationships for Young People with Disabilities, your young adult will learn the facts about safe relationships and sexuality. The five sessions include: Getting Started, Gender and Sexual Identities, Types of Relationships, Public and Private and Body Parts.

All Sessions are Monday Evenings from 6:00 – 7:30 PM

  • May 12, 2025       Getting Started
