Puzzling Puzzle Pieces

Posted on

The symbol of the puzzle itself is very interesting, it shows a sign of confusion every time you try to attach it to the other pieces and just wonder if it really belongs there. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. One thing for sure, you won’t get the full picture until you’ve actually placed more and more pieces together over time. Depending on how long it takes, the image becomes more and more like a masterpiece as the pieces come together.

In the beginning, when doing the puzzle, all pieces are colorful and look like they fit, but they don’t. When a piece fits within another piece, there comes a connection to others and over time, there is a display of what the image is supposed to be. It’s very fascinating when the puzzle becomes the image you want it to be.

There is so much to find in the definition of puzzles, or even one piece. No matter at what age, the idea that life can be hard to understand when you want to go out and try to fit in, it may seem that you aren’t like everyone else and the result just feels so lonesome, helpless and not understanding and you don’t think you’ll be able to fit. However, no matter what, do not give up, you are unique, you are capable of so many things, and if you put your mind to it, then the real connection is the discovery that you find yourself! If it’s a career you strive for, a song you want to write or any goal you want, then make it an everyday goal to constantly build yourself up.

There is so much more than that in a puzzle piece, memories of understanding from childhood to adulthood. The time that it took towards the actualization of what it means to not understand yourself, but furthermore, the connections of the people that inspired you to become whole. The idea of “fitting in” has endless possibilities, because the one thing that piece of puzzle can connect to is finding yourself!

My name is Khylil Robinson, I recently finished taking classes Community College of Philadelphia. I am really glad to have this opportunity to share my personal experiences towards other autistic individuals like myself. During my spare time, I like to improve my typing skills and play video games. I don’t think I am as good as I think myself to be, but I have accomplished a lot regarding my disability and I want to keep on moving forward in life and in school. I intend to fulfill my goal as a public speaker for autism and a math major in the future.
