Having Fun on A Sick Day
Posted on
It’s early Autumn and we’re about to get ourselves ready for bonfires, scary movies, and some fall fun. Autumn is also the beginning of cold and flu season, and I found myself sick with a common cold recently. It really derailed my plans and routine, so I became inspired to tell you about the things you can do when you’re a little under the weather:
Spa Day: When you can’t go out and have to stay in bed, why not pamper yourself and do a Mani Pedi, a hair treatment, or a nice warm bath? Or if you’re feeling up to it, you could do some small yoga poses and stretching exercises to move around a little. It can help you relax while your body heals. I sometimes make a glass of cucumber water and watch TV in my room when I don’t feel well…. Water is a great way to stay hydrated, and it’s good for you.
Crafts: A classic way to make the time pass by is to keep busy by doing some arts and crafts. I, myself, do some crocheting whenever I can. Sometimes I’ll make chains, a stuffed animal, or even a coaster. My sister is a talented painter and I’ll often see her painting or drawing even when she’s just relaxing. You could even start a new hobby you might have been considering, like little DIY projects you’ve seen online while you’re staying home!
Clean Out Your Closet: I am not good at staying still. I think of ways to occupy myself and move around. And a classic way is to clean up your bedroom, just take out everything in your closet/drawers and maybe even dump your stuff on the floor/bed so see everything better. You can put on the tv or listen to music and just look through your clothes to see what you wanna keep and what you don’t wanna keep.
Reading: Another classic sick day idea is to consider picking up a good book and reading in bed. I myself enjoy reading non-fiction books (stories about the Titanic are my favorite) – there are so many good books out there. If you’re too tired to focus on reading, try flipping through a cookbook and flag some recipes you’d like to try. This is a great way to get inspired to try new foods. I recently tried a Sweet & Sour Pork Meatballs and I LOVE them.
I hope you stay healthy during this cold and flu season, but if you do find yourself under the weather, here’s a few ideas to help you pass the time!
That’s all I’ve got for now, but I’ll be back with some more blogs soon:)
